Flixonase For Allergic Rhinitis

I don't think there is a cure for Allergic Rhinitis at the moment, but there are alternatives to the continuous suffering as a result of it. As mentioned in a earlier post "Dust Control In Your House", the single best treatment is to avoid whatever that is causing your symptoms to appear! However, we know that it is impossible to completely avoid these allergens. Besides taking steps to reduce exposure, another viable alternative the use of medication.

Personally, I've been using Flixonase for almost a year. (Hmm, that's exactly how my bottle of Flixonase looks!) What is Flixonase? First of all, it is a nasal spray to control Allergic Rhinitis. It is simple to use and all is take is a spray into each nostril and a deep breath.

More interestingly, how does Flixonase work? Well, Flixonase is just a commercial name for this product, which contains the active ingredient fluticasone propionate. Fluticasone is a synthetic cortico-steriod, and cortico-steroid is a natural hormone that can control inflammatory responses.

Fluticasone -> Corticosteroid -> Control Inflammation -> No Symptoms

With the use of Flixonase nasal spray, what happens is that our nasal passage is slowly able to absorb fluticasone, which prevents the onset of allergic response. An important thing to note is that Flixonase does *not* work immediately! I was actually prescribed Flixonase way back in 2003, and I actually used it for a while. Apparently, I felt that it wasn't making much of a difference to my condition so I stopped using it.

Big. Mistake.

I decided to give it another try early this year when it was recommended by another doctor. It seemed to take up to one or two weeks for me before Flixonase reached its full effect. And once it did, I no longer had to use it everyday. Nowadays, I just use it once in every couple of days and it works just fine. No more runny nose everyday!

To all the fellow sufferers of Allergic Rhinitis, Flixonase is something I'll really recommend you give a try, because it worked wonders on me. Of course, please consult your family doctor for his or her opinion on whether you're suitable to use this. If you've never heard Flixonase, then it might just be your savior!

For your information, Flixonase isn't paying me a single cent for this post, haha! I'm still paying about SGD$50 for each bottle of it from my doc. At the rate I'm using it, a bottle could probably last me a couple of months so I'm fine with it :)
